Weekend Getaway: The Land of Roundabouts

I left off saying that more exciting things would be happening soon. Indeed they did. The past few days were full of a wonderful, beautiful ask weekend. The adventure began on Friday night when all of the girls on my Ask (Bora, Stawl, Parkour, Ping Pong, Showbag, Digits, and I) met in the gazebo at Cromwell. We were all bursting with excitement when Taxi (haha, get it?) came to pick us up and bring us to our mystery location. That mystery location turned out to be the Sunshine Coast, in a place called Noosa (I think), which is north of Brisbane. We drove up to an incredibly nice beach house which would be our home for the next two days..

Upon entering, the boys greeted us dressed to impress and politely asked us to change into our finer clothing as well. From there we were served the finest of beverages ranging from rum to gin to beer. There was everything you could ever have wanted, a nice change of pace from goon. We then got to find out our ask partners and present them with the gift that we had handcrafted. My partner's name is Fierce and he is quite nice. He loved the hat I made him, obviously.

The next morning we were off to the beach. Fact: every Australian beach is better than the ones in the states. We swam, built sandcastles, and soaked up the outdoor goodness till lunch. After our BBQ lunch, we took a dip in the sweet pool at our house and then saw a sweet Australian flick called When the War Began. That night we continued our shenanigans from the night before and played games, went to the beach, lit some fireworks and indulged in some delicious late night toast. The following day, we went to a different beach. This time there were caves and we actually climbed down inside one. I am usually pretty good with outdoorsy stuff, but this actually sent my nerves for a spin. We climbed down cliffs, had to shimmy on ledges of stone and do other hardcore stuff like that. When I finished and crawled out, I really felt like I had made an achievement. Just call me Mrs. Bear Grillz. We tossed a frisbee and kicked a ball around for the rest of the afternoon and then went to Skenya's house. It was neat to see a real Australian home and meet a family, but then we had to keep going to Cromwell.

The title comes from the fact that there were no traffic lights in Noosa, just a million roundabouts. One. Million. It was a lovely, relaxing, fun weekend at the beach. I'll post pictures once my friends post them. That is one of many downfalls of breaking your camera.

Missin' you and listening to Christmas music already,
